There are many firework suppliers on the island that operate illegally or without the appropriate licences. Recently the military has raided shops and storage units of such suppliers and confiscated their stocks. During the last a meeting that was held by the military, they imposed a temporary ban on fireworks display and a temporary ban on Chinese sky lanterns release until the licence issue is sorted out with the suppliers and a proper monitoring systems has been put in place by the local government on Koh Samui.
It could take weeks or even months for the ban to be lifted.
At this point, the only alternative would be lance-work set-pieces, waterfall set-pieces, fire-dance shows or water floating lanterns.
We will keep you posted on further developments.
